Mental Health and Wellbeing – November 2021

We are committed to integrating mental health and wellbeing across our curriculum and culture. The government stated in the ‘Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision: a Green Paper’ published in December 2017, that every school should have a Mental Health Lead by 2023. Mrs McCann is currently undertaking training with the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families to become our Mental Health Champion. We have become part of the Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Group Cohort 1 working collaboratively and strengthening direct links with local Primary Mental Health Services to form a robust, proactive and united Mental Health action group.

Without doubt, life in recent months has been challenging for us all and it is perfectly normal for everyone to have experienced different and changing emotions. A useful definition for mental wellbeing offered in the Anna Freud Toolkit for Schools is:

“Children and young people feeling good, feeling that their life is going well, and feeling able to get on with their daily lives.”
