PE (Physical Education)
In P.E. we use the Lancashire scheme to implement twelve areas of sport throughout the academic year (two each half term). We are also lucky enough to have Fleetwood Town, to work alongside the class teacher, to deliver PE weekly to each year group.
We are a member of the Wyre and Fylde partnership (SSP) who organise inter-school competitions in which we attend with much success.
Year 2 and Year 3 travel each week to the local pool to attend swimming lessons during Autumn and Spring Terms (this is over 70 children each week!). Year 5 goes instead of Year 3 in the summer term.
Year 6 have the opportunity to take part in a swimming gala with other schools locally.
Pupils within our year 6 cohort are assessed against the national curriculum requirement to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
A magnificent 91.2% of our Year 6 children in 2017 achieved their 25 metres, with 88.2% achieving the 25 metres and water safety in different water-based situations.
100% of our current Year 6 (2019-2020) class have achieved their water safety with 76% being able to swim 25m using a range of strokes.
